TERM 3 AND 4 SEMINAR SCHEDULE

Students are encouraged to follow the suggested schedule of challenge questions or respond in their own time using a selection of the seminars listed.

Due to technical difficulties we will not be broadcasting seminars live in the second half of 2011,however the online learning community will

LENScience Senior Biology Seminar Series 2011

Welcome to the LENScence Senior Biology Seminar Series 2011

  • The 2011 Seminar Series takes place from Term 1 to Term 3 and consists of 9 seminars, run in three week blocks.
  • Weeks 1 and 3 of each block are local workshops held in schools. Week 2 of each block is the seminar broadcast.
  • During the seminar, a live audience of students from central Auckland schools gather at the Liggins Institute to join students from throughout New Zealand who participate via an interactive satellite TV broadcast. This broadcast can also be received through the KAREN network for schools connected to the National Education Network.
  • In some regional centres, students from multiple schools will gather in a central location. Please refer to the schools registration page to identify a centre near you.

Curriculum concepts to be covered this year include:

Gene Expression; Mutations; Cell Cycle; Biotechnological Techniques; Evolution; Speciation; Chronobiology; Human Evolution; Ecosystems; Nature of Science
