What's an Earthworm Worth?

Do you know how many earthworms it takes to decompose the waste you produce each day or the grass from your lawn clippings each week? Granted, they are not the only decomposers in your compost bin, however earthworms are very important.

They may be small, slimy and have a subterranean habitat, but earthworms are an essential component of our ecosystems, providing a vital ecosystem service by contributing to nutrient cycling and soil formation.
